Chuck Baldwin Talks Politics
Constitution Presidential Candidate Speaks Out
>
Bismarck -- Constitution Party Presidential candidate Chuck Baldwin, joined Jim Kusler and Jeff Baranick on Fox Friday Night Live to discuss the race to the White House. Mr. Baldwin covered a wide variety of topics during his 40 minute interview on KDKT. With his conservative background, Jim asked about Baldwin's inspiration from the Reagan Revolution - "there is no question about it, in fact I'm a graduate of Jerry Falwell's liberty university in the first graduating class in 1975" - Baldwin stated.

"In 1980
when Ronald Reagan was running, Jerry Falwell called me and asked me If I would be the executive director of the Florida moral majority. I accepted the offer. I was a part of that whole Reagan Revolution in the 80's... I was in a very activist side of
the Republican Party."

So what brought him to the Constitution Party? "The major issues were the fact that we believe that the conservative message and agenda that the Republican Party professes to believe in, but have been abandoned. Over the years, those issues have been abandoned by the Republican Party, to the point that there is not a conservative voice in Washington DC any more."

Jeff asked Mr. Baldwin, if he were elected, what could he do for the State of North Dakota? "
I think that it is absolutely critical that we unleash the potential to produce energy and to become energy independent."- Baldwin said. "It is really ludicrous the that the two major parties have allowed our country to become dependent upon foreign interests for our energy needs. That's inexcusable. I know in the Dakotas
we have discovered some other large deposits of oil, natural gas and coal. We should be drilling for the oil that we know is there."

Baldwin made it clear what direction the country should go towards.
"There is enough oil under the soil of Alaska to last us 150 years and more. In fact, I am told there is more oil in Alaska than there is in the entire country of Saudi Arabia! I also understand we have discovered some other large deposits of oil right there in North Dakota!"

Baldwin told Jim and Jeff that the most important issues on his agenda were "the right for life, the antinomy and independence of the national sovereignty of our country and its borders. We are losing our national sovereignty and independence. We have become a country which John McCain likes to say is inner dependent. That's foolish, we are not inner dependent, we are independent!"

Another subject included a discussion on the national media, and how it ignores third party candidates - "
how can you get 15 percent of the peoples vote, when the news media will not give you the news you need to hear? To block us out of the system and not to let us participate is blatantly undemocratic! Its bias, its prejudice, its contrary to everything our country was built upon! It' a collaboration between the two major parties and the national news media."

Jim asked Baldwin what he felt was his call to public service? "
I have lived my whole life under the philosophy that the job seeks the man and not the other way around. The leaders of the Constitution Party asked me fervently, would I throw my name into the nomination? They said I was the man to carry the torch for the Constitution Party for 2008.... I feel I am answering my country's call."

Mr. Baldwin will be joined this fall by Darrel Castle, as his running mate for Vice President.

The Constitution Party will be on the ballot this year in North Dakota, with a goal of reaching at least 49 states this election.
In the 2004 presidential election, Baldwin was Michael Peroutka's running mate and candidate for Vice President of the United States on the Constitution Party ticket. The two ran on a platform of "God, Family, and the Republic."
