Singer/songwriter Jonelle Marie grew up in a small
midwestern town in Illinois, and has been writing and singing since the
young age of three. Her first writings were published in a poetry book
at the age of eight. Around that time, Jonelle also started singing in
local contests and school functions all the while continuing to write.
When she turned fourteen, Jonelle started modeling and continued to
model through her high school years, but with music being her first
love, Jonelle quite modeling to concentrate on the music industry.
Shortly after she turned twenty-one, Jonelle join her first cover band,
AKA.
Jonelle performed through out the Chicago area with AKA for three years
before she met Bobby
Scumaci (Dave Mason)
at a performance near
Chicago. Jonelle and Bobby joined forces and he produced and co wrote
her first cd entitled Listen,
released in 2004. Jonelle and bobby carefully assembled a team of
musicians from around the U.S. who played on the project and added a
diverse mix of talent to each song. Listen broke on the radio airwaves
via Chicago area station WJDK-FM,
and several other stations across the United States since.
Listen is
a five-song release full
of raw emotion and the smoky tones that drew Bobbie to Jonelle over a
year and a half ago. "All of my songs are created from very personal
experiences, written from the heart. Every song on this cd is about
something that I have gone through in my life, the emotion of that,
shines through with each song. My goal is for people to be able to
relate to the songs, and think, hmm, I know what she's feeling, I have
felt like that a time or two." Her first single Not Your Doll, has become a online
download hit! The Coal City Courant
newspaper refers to Listen as
"country meets coffeehouse".
Gearing up for
promotional shows, Jonelle
is looking forward to sharing the music and the songs off of her album Listen, Jonelle says "If I can
just touch one person with my music or my lyrics, then my job is done,
and now I am ready to be heard. I just want to
perform and continue to write. There is nothing like the feeling of
looking out at your audience and know that they feel what your saying.
I live for those moments and I am ecstatic about the future of Listen."
Jonelle has already found a unique
audience for herself via the Internet, while enjoying over 200,000
downloads of her singles Not Your Doll,
and Sweet Heartache via DSN

an artist that's out of this world! Someday soon Jonelle Marie
will be a household name..." 2005 brought Jonelle into the Next American Superstar contest.
